i’m at a point in my job where i have a lot of free time. not that i’m complaining, it’s just i’m a workhorse who tends to feel useless during downtime.
take this morning, for example: i “manage” five guys. this morning from 9 to 11 each of them has time blocked off in their schedule to go through their folders and “scrub” them. this means that they are give 2 hours of free time to remove any irrelevantinformation from their folders, what they should be doing anyway. so this means i have until at least noon before i can go into the field and do my job as a trainer. i hate downtime. the worst part about having a late start day, is that i will have a late evening tonight. i guess i shouldn’t complain, but i’ve been enjoying my evenings off, it’s been nice.
i need to start getting into the gym again. i’ve been really lazy and have put the weight back on again. it’s kinda depressing. i suppose that this is a perfect oppertunity to use this “downtime” but i’m just not motivated to do it. any suggestions? i’ve been praying for motivation, but it’s not really working. maybe God is telling me to get off my duff and make an effort for myself……

I’m not good with downtime either, unless it’s at the end of the day and I’m exhausted. I think downtime during work is not true downtime because I have to pay for it with “frenzytime” later.
Could it be that God is telling you to be still and listen during those downtimes? Sometimes His voice seems so hard to hear when I’m looking for the meaning behind something. Like downtime.

I agree with Lisa (above). I also have downtime while waiting for my next task which is sometimes better than playing beat the clock, which is a losing proposition from the get go.
The part I agree with on Lisa’s is “be still” and “listen”. Appreicate the subtle things going on around you. God is always communicating to us but are we really listening?
For exercise; meditate quietly, watch your breathing, tighten your muscles and hold. No it’s not like lifting weights or cardio but as you get older gravity takes over and something is better than nothing at all.
Nice to something on your blog. See you at the Orchard.

dude, ill be home in a week and we can find a reasonable gym in between the two of us geographically, and then ill be the one telling you to get off your ass. the good thing about that is that youll be the one telling me to get off my ass, too.
